Borescope images from my very worn 260AI rifle barrel.. now retired after about 3500 rounds. It was so worn, if I cleaned the barrel it took over 40 rounds to settle down and shoot well, so this is what it finally looked like after not being cleaned for almost 600 rounds.. the carbon and copper filled in all of the fire cracking very well.. Love the copper crystals forming inside the barrel. To be fair, the last time I shot this, I shot hunter sporter class at 600 meters and got 100.15

Re: my very worn 260AI barrel
Interesting post , most impressive is getting 3500 rnds from the barrel , but is that with the same chambering ? Are the loads or or mild ? Just curious of throat wear for the AI as most report throats can erode quickly (potentially) with warm loads above 3000 fps
I have both 260 rifles in standard form for light pills and AI form for heavy pills , two entirely different guns built for purpose

Re: my very worn 260AI barrel
The barrel was originally used on an F-open rifle and had about 1200 or so high velocity rounds through it, I bought it second hand, had is shortened and rechambered in 260AI and went from there, never needed a rechamber. I was shooting 147 grain projectiles at around 2830 fps.. throat erosion was very minimal.. just lots of fire cracking down 2/3ds of the barrel to the point where it looked like some of the cracking "scales" had actually come away .. I was surprised the last time I cleaned it to see how bad it looked but it kept shooting well until I ran out of the 147's and decided it was a good time for a re-barrel to go with new projectiles
