Re: Nominations For 2017 FCWC Canada
I guess the cat is out of the bag now
Thanks Alan and guys for the vote of confidence.
Please everyone understand that this is only a nomination (not a selection) and there are also (already) several other extremely good applicants for the Captains role. All of which I have a huge amount of respect for and know they would do a great job of leading the team.
With respect to this:
It would be extremely unfair on the other nominees for myself or any other to suggest any caliber choices, budgets or other requirements for the team. The chosen Captain will have their own game plan and does not need any preconceived ideas before starting the program.
So with respect to those wishing to know these requirements before nominating - Please just put your nomination in - even if you have reservations either way you can discuss this with the chosen Captain once this is in place. It is better for the team and Captain to know the field (calibers and concerns included) and what the implications are for the team for their decisions. I don't see the fact that the Captain hasn't been named as a hinderance at all. Instead of the Captain being named and laying out a plan and then nominating it just means you do it in the reverse order and make the decisions after the fact rather than before.
We are very lucky in that we have a very solid base to work off from last time and at this point a far greater number of top line coaches and shooters (possibly 10x the number shooting well at 1000 yards than we did in 2011). I am very confident we will be able to put forward a team that can have a shot at the title again.
With regards to budget please also consider this. Most of us last time pushed harder before the FCWC than normal but then also backed off a lot in the year or two after. Please compare costs with what you would "otherwise be doing anyway". ie - what would your barrel, bullet, travel etc budget be staying here for next three or four years anyway and attending a few queens etc. You might be surprised how little extra this will cost and also how much sponsorship their may be around this time. we certainly have a better pitching platform being current world champions.
LETS GO GUYS AND GIRLS - YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU!!
