Howdy,
Just curious about the 45 sec rule?
Hope that's not the time allowed to get off the mound :D

Tim,

Before my time but the 45 second rule used to be universal. It requires that you must get each shot off within 45 seconds - means you can't wait for the return of a condition as some shooters do. I think you''ll strike this rule in Canada with Bisley style in the FCWC individuals. Also if you've ever seen or been involved in shoot-off at a prize meeting, this rule normally applies.

Hi Alan,
It's the first I've heard of the 45 sec rule for string shooting and I have never seen it enforced, I usually have 2 or 3 shots away in that time :D
I have been practicing bisley style shooting which has a 45 sec max per shot, my initial impression is that I prefer it to string shooting.
No waiting for a condition to return or machine gun your way through, an enjoyable challenge!

Well, the 45 second rule in Australia was rescinded before the advent of F class shooting. The reason it was dropped was because some/many scorers were reluctant to dob in their mates for slow shooting, similarly to the death sentence being removed because juries became reluctant to convict people of a capital crime. In essence, the rule became notable by the regularity of its infringements & the ability for ROs to police more than one or two offenders here & there.

Hi Johnk, refer to rule 4.1.4.1 SSR latest edition...45 second rule alive and well...or am I missing something. Policing the 45 second rule could be a pain in the a...., I suspect! A scorer would probably ignore their requirement. Like their the new secretary of the ACTU...break the law could be the order of the day. Perhaps Wingham OPM organisers should review their decision.

Sorry about my imprecision. As you point out, he rule is available & has never been removed, but until this instance, was deemed not to be able to be practically policed in modern times.

Rod, scores are up on NRAA results site.

Duncan davies took Target without dropping a shot
Mr beavis didnt drop a shot, and shot a few 60.9s to take out open
And the top 3 FStd seperated by centres only with john kent claiming the prize

Weather kept most of our club away
