bullet lube

#1 Postby Chopper » Tue Jan 04, 2022 9:26 am

Bees wax bullet lube is something I used in my FB days
one reason was to cut down on sighting shots in bigger bore barrels like Shultz
Wouldnt think of firing a shot without once and loved to see the swirls down range , smelt good too,
Didnt clean a barrel for a Queens and cleaning was an oily patch to stop rust then before the next shoot , one or two patches straight through then up it again
With moly today I find you need to condition the bore with 3 or more shots for settling of elevation
interesting subject considering the bees wax has a flashpoint of 400 degree f
Any one shot with it modern barrels with tighter tolerances ? I will have a play soon,

I am an avid moly user, I have no group settling issues with it. So little in fact that I often save sighters. I do follow a careful cleaning regime as a matter of course.

Well I shot moly for years and can say there was No more accuracy for me, No less, But it Did cut down on fouling and gave longer strings, and was easier cleaning, with bees wax lube I found when I didnt clean or oil after a shoot , later pushing a dry patch through the barrel bought out copper black sludge, maybe the wax reacted with the copper helping to cut back on fouling ? but that was a while ago, Chopper
