Just in process of planning a 260AI build specifically for 147 eldm hornady pills .
I reckon 2213 or even 2217 is needed for the slower burn rate and hence less pressure .
Will be fireforming adi308 brass after neck turning .
Any recomendations on loads for this . I want to able to get out to 1500 yds maybe  .
Cheers Bill

Go straight to 2217. Fireform using 42.6 grains of 2209. I have just done the hard yards on mine and learned a lot. Don’t bother with the 147 as you won’t drive them hard enough to get any benefits over the 140’s.

And the other bit of advice is make a drop tube. Mine is about 14” long.

And yes this is an old thread but there’s not a great deal of information about this mighty fine caliber out there. Definitely worth keeping it alive as it is growing in popularity again.

Bill , 2217 will work with 147 as it need pressure to burn correctly. Whether the bullet works is another topic. As Trav suggests use soft 2209 load to fireform.

FYI , I did just get the Sierra 150 to 2900 (no pressure) with 2217 !!!

Nice. That should make it a good 1500 caliber. There are a couple of others that will reach the 1500. Personally I am running 3000 plus a little, with 140s from a 30” using 2217 with lots of room to move up from there, maintaining better vertical at long range than most. As I say I can go further but don’t have the need to. 3000 is a magic number ;) and it’s well under pressure and much less harsh than 2209&2213 on throats and brass.
