Canberra Queens 2019

#1 Postby Tim N » Thu Nov 07, 2019 8:06 am

Hi All,
Looking forward to my last shoot for the year, weatherman says 32 deg and 30k winds for Wed to start.
Make wind your friend by the looks of it.
My accommodation may need all tie down points pegged in- since Davies isn't attending this shoot I won't have to worry about my tent being run over 8).
I'm hoping they have the score boards in use on the mounds for those of us who prefer old school rather than staring at a screen.
Should be another great event and a good way to finish the year off.
See you there.

Will be a fun event as always.

I have to get through Wednesday with my Dasher so will be good fun.

I’m sure I can arrange a clandestine tent sabotage session if your missing Davies.

I'll be there to keep you 2 honest then. Might have to start off with a SAUM and go back to a Dasher then Ben if the wind is blowing hard.

Hey Ben
What’s up with having to use your dasher for the first range?
Things must be tough out in the bush or no 284 brass available?

It’s only just hit 200 rounds and I want to shoot it at some time before the queens to confirm its humming.

I’ve got my 204R for the really rough conditions

Don't worry Ben, Tim is shooting his new FTR gun in the lead up now he's got it going. I'll shoot my 6XC for you.

Lead up Day 1
Using the words of a prominent Sydney gunsmith the weather today is maaaarvelous

5 deg overnight and 21 deg max today- most civilised

176 shooters for the lead up and more to come for the main event

Even those with a coffee problem have been catered for!

Winds are from right to left mostly with a few flags opposing each other.

One of the open shooters has moved away from the herd and is campaigning a 22 Dasher.

Good luck to all

Very dry and dusty in the village from the look of it. Best of luck to everyone shooting.

Day 2 of the lead up
Another marvellous day apart from the faulty fan blowing the wind everywhere

Velocity changes were sharp and frequent with not many easy patches

Scores reflect this with only a few good scores had

Thanks once again for the reports Tim. And good luck for tomorrow - luck is usually an important ingredient there.
