Two questions please?
1. If there is sufficient support from shooters, we may trial a divisional system (rather than grading) for next year’s (2012) OPM. This would involve both TR and F-Std shooters. Here’s how it would work : After the first range on day 1, the full list of TR shooters would be looked at and sorted in order of their grading averages as published by the VRA. They would be divided into 3 equal (or nearly equal) groups taken from the top, middle and bottom of the grading averages list. The same would be done for F-Std, but with 2 divisions.

Based on these figures and on other written and oral comments, the OPM committee has decided not to recommend the trial, mainly because of the risk of people staying away in protest (a few are passionately opposed to the idea).
Some shooters liked the idea of showing how a Divisional System would have looked at the current OPM. Below is a link to a “hypothetical” results page based on a Divisional System. Note that the fields are a little uneven because of a few shooters joining the meeting on the second day.

Based on these figures and on other written and oral comments, the OPM committee has decided not to recommend changing the make-up of ranges used, by dropping a range to bring back the 700. However there were a number of respondents who asked for there to be 4 ranges shot on Day 1. This will be considered.
