2213sc at north qld teams and queens

Post by bruce moulds »

following reports that 2213sc will not perform in north qld conditions by br shooters, it will be most interesting to see how fclass rifles perform in the deep north when using this powder.
keep safe,
bruce.

Did you mean to attach some reports to show us Bruce? What following reports? I wonder if our military are aware of this?

Bruce, I followed up on your interesting snippet of info to see if it was based on anything more than heresay.

I contacted a friend (who shall remain nameless) who works at the DSTO at Edinburgh in SA. He is one of a team that test ballistic powders for small arms, artillery and solid rocket propellents. Samples are tested at regular interval to ensure consistency and stability.

Cut a long story short, it appears you are correct about its use in tropical locations. It seems hackers (Chinese?) got into ADI's automation control and planted a stuxtnet (Israel used against Iran's uranium enrichment program) type virus. This altered the formulation only for AR2213SC and effectively slowed the burn rate. This got noticed as far away as in Afghanistan by our special forces there but the effect was not as dramatic as in the tropics. If you live in tropical north queensland I'd be looking for a new powder to use. Eventually there will be a recall issued for this powder world wide!
