Same build strength, but 100 MOA elevation adjustment for the 5.5-22x50 verses 45 MOA elevation for the 12-42x56 NXS.

In my opinion, if you want to be a serious competitor, then mechanical reliability of scopes is far and away the most important quality to look for.

Not knocking any other brand but I'll give you a good report on my Leupold 8.5x25s. They've been totally reliable (touch wood!) and with a 25 minute base I can shoot from 300 to 1500 and still have some elevation left for the longer ranges.

Picture of long range cases here (scroll down) http://www.freewebs.com/ukbra/riflescartridges.htm

I have the barrel out of Paul's booboo in my 300wm. The first round i fired got a 208match doing 3140fps and punctured the primer, it was then i realised it was a tight bore lawton barrel. These days i have backed it off and havent chronoed them yet. I also managed to get the 225 match projies to 2995 so i dont think getting 3000fps out of your RUM with a 200gr projie will be an issue unless you have a short barrel. The barrel in my 300WM is about 28".

My 375 cheytac tipped the scales at 10kg without the scope and it was fine to shoot without a brake.
