6mm/284
Just wondering if any one has had genuine experience with one and can tell me how many rounds they got out of it with 1/2 Moa accuracy, thinking about doing a short throat one for light bullets in a slow twist , I no all the pros and cons about light and heavy , except there are so many varied opinions on barrel life but you can't beat first hand experience so if you have had one please inform me
Re: 6mm/284
Must say , I have four new 6mm 1 in 7.7 and 1 in 8 and am looking at cooking one or two of them as I dont shoot a lot so it would be good to hear about some 6mm screamers ,

Re: 6mm/284
The next chamber job I get will be converting my 10" twist Dasher barrel to 6x284 and getting it screwed into my hunting rifle. No doubt it will get a bit of use on the range, working up loads before taking it out bunny busting.

Re: 6mm/284
I am looking at a 6mm AI with a 14 twist barrel. I should be able to kick 65gr pills out hopefully over 4000fps with a 28" barrel. I'm not a fan of the 284 case otherwise the 6-284 would be very appealing. Let us know how you get on with it if you go down this path.

Thanks fellas , I may end up doing this , at the moment I use a swift improved and find it hard to beat 40 b/tips 4600 fps , but a 6/284 sounds good

Re: 6mm/284
I have a swift I use also. It's my go to fox rifle, really accurate, but I'm not getting anywhere near that speed out of it. I shoot 50gr v max pills in it. When the barrel shags out I'll look at blowing it out to ackley. Are you running the 40 degree ackley shoulder or the 30 degree improved version?
Re: 6mm/284
40 degree shoulder , Matt at lrp has the reamer and we sent the print to whidden gun works and had a full length bushing die made for it , 4600 is hitting it hard so full length each shot , it's on a single shot Barnard s , deadly fox gun at these velocitys
Re: 6mm/284
I have a customer who has a 6x284 he has shortened the case to around 243w capacity but with a long neck to protect the throat. Looks like a Dasher on steroids....
