At the Rosedale OPM we work on minimum of 30% getting a badge. If there are too many badges, the ones in excess are not awarded and written off. Badges are only valuable if you have to earn them.

Percentage based badges seem like a good idea. Top 10% or say first 3 places if less than 30 in a shooting group/class.

G'day Outta, have you been able to get an ammo yet :D

Good suggestion, 10 % or top 3 if less than 30 shooters in any grade

Cheers

Vic Queens

Post by bartman007 »

OK, so with all that said, how do we go about getting a bit more of a fair go?

Do we start in the Club's/DRA's where F Class is strong, and offer a new OPM where F Class is advertised as the main event. If we have 3 of these in the first year, we could gauge if there is enough genuine interest from F Class shooters.

We need F Class shooters to travel, so that we can get the numbers up. There are still quite a few that I know don't travel.

In regard to the Vic Queens, do we all email Geoff and ask what the VRA are going to do this year in regard to equality for F Classes? [Prize distribution and seating arrangements]

We need to start somewhere, or else the usual treatment will continue.

I for one have considered backing off, but I'll hang in for a few more years to see if things improve!!!

Barry, I too would have been disgusted to see the lack of respect shown to our F Class Queen's winners!

Just because we have scopes, makes us no less skilled at shooting! We're shooting at the Center Bull after all.

It is unfortunate that as technology has moved on, that a large number in our sport have not embraced it. In some respects FTR would probably be a better transistion from TR, as we in F Class have the luxury of front rest and rear bag.

There is nothing wrong with change, as the older TR guy's would agree. You don't see them shooting 303's alongside 308's these days! They moved on with the newer round. And now they get to use Berger's too. I forgot, they are allowed to use Eagle eye's. The size of the front sight is getting bigger too [30mm].

No, I think it is because they can see how good Scope shooting is, but can't bring themselves to throwing away the iron sights

Bacchus Marsh OPM

Post by bartman007 »

Well done to the organising committe at Bacchus Marsh =D>

Looks like they have analysed the attendances and put up the appropriate number of badges in each class of shooting.

And it looks as though F Class gets a higher number of badges. That seems to reflect what we are currently experiencing as we travel around the circuit.

Keep up the good work, and it looks like I'll be putting this one on this years MUST ATTEND!

Yes there is a problem, when a small group such as in on this forum try to solve the world problems without actually doing anything.

Most of the issues are from EX TR shooters who have given up this style of shooting but still want all the benefits that go with it.

Barry, I was at Canberra, and I did not see 1 FC shooter go out off their way to congratulate any of the winners, so you should look in your own back yard before pointing the finger at others.

If FClass is serious then formulate what traditions that you feel you need to be happy instead of pointing the finger at others who are following a long held traditions, and remember that the sport of long distance shooting is why we get out each weekend, not for the glory, there would not be many shooters competing if we only shot if we were going to win.

And for a final point the top TR shooters (I do not put myself in this group unless I am asleep) in this country often equal/or are not far behind the FC shooters of a rest, perhaps more time should be spent getting better scores.

RMc.

You must not have been looking some of the time.
My reference was not about those ( TR and FC ) who did not step sideways and congratulate any of the winners, plenty of that went on,--- it was about some individuals who congratulated the TR winner and could'nt bring themselves to take two more steps and include both FC winners.---bad manners.
I did not see anyone congratulate the FC winners and ignore the TR winner.

Ok we have a post going about increasing club members in general but how about increasing the numbers that go to PMs. Usually there are only 3 that go from our club, being me, myself and I.
I'm bringing along an extra to the Marsh this weekend.
How do we get those own range only shooters moving?

Cheers
Danny
