Just to stir the pot, not long ago I , we , did a 20 br for fun, at about 3600fps, 55g smk, next to us was a 300wm, at a fly shoot at 300m , in shitty conditions , the 20 came out in front ?? by a fair bit with flat elevation, ??, the 300 was shot by a very good shooter, I think that shooter has built one similar ? I can't imagine there would be much difference in the BC between a 140gr-7mm and a +105gr-6mm out to 600y. Especially if you average the BC over the higher operating velocity with the 140gr's.

Alan, didn't you have some initial success using a flat-base 77gr a 224cal in the early-mid 2000's?

Aaron,

If I'm the Alan you're asking then it wasn't me. Perhaps it was Rod Davies using a 22 Dasher?

You stirring again Chop. Haha

Ive got a 223 barrel waiting for my rig. From what I've seen of them here. Just as accurate as a open cal at the shorts. So why the heck not. Not to mention cheap as heck to run!!!! Under half the cost of my 6x47L and 3 times the barrel life. What's not to love about it!!!

About the only time I won anything with a 6mm was at a 100 shot 1000 yard shoot at Corryong. See http://www.matchrifle.org/Results_Australia/F_1000_2009.htm and look down the competitor list.
