Well here we all are at Canberra again.

As mentioned elsewhere, thanks to Geoff Roberts it looks like the results will be published quickly. See HERE.

Some performances of interest were on the plus side Mark Fairburn who is continuing where he left off in Raton, and on the down side, Rod Mahon seems to be struggling to get his gear working. Weather was pretty calm but that's when Canberra gets "tricky". I should have some calibres tomorrow night. Have sighted Bob Eager and I'm told that a few other NSW shooters will show for the Queens.

Okay - the reloading press calls. Good night.

Alan :)

Well done to Mark in F-Open. He blitzed the field and conditions were quite tricky most of the time. And also Daryl in F-Std which was a more close-run affair. It seems that the US experience of these two hasn't done them any harm 8) .

I have some calibres of the shooters during the leadup - not sure that all were actually used :

M Fairburn 6XC, 284 Win
R Davies 6BR, 6.5WSSM, 284 Win
M Paroz 6.5x47, 284 Win
A Fraser 7mm Shehane
K Bell 6x47, 284 Win
A Davies 6.5x47, 308 Win
G Hunt 6.5x47, 6.5-284
J Tracey 284 Win
M Passlow 6BR, 6.5x55AI
M Halloran 308 Win (F/TR)
G Willis 6BR
R Mahon 6 Dasher, 6.5-284
H Hoitink 300 WSM

Have seen Paul Deehan, Geoff Miners and Ben Ferrara today, so add them to the list for the Queens. Its supposed to be cooler tomorrow with a few showers, and less wind. Back tomorrow night.

Apologies for missing this out last night - fell asleep  .

Well its just about all over, but as you can see HERE, its far from over in F-Open with 4 shooters equal on points \:D/ . So there should be some high drama tomorrow, particularly with 25kph fishtails expected during the second range  .

Its been typical tricky Canberra conditions yesterday and today, with a steady condition rarely lasting more than a minute or two, so its a credit to the leaders that they've only dropped a point per range on average.

I have some more calibres :

T Nugent 284 Win
B Ferrara 6x47, 284 Win
D Zerbe 7mm RSAUM
S Braund 284 Win
R Braund 284 Win
P Deehan 7mm RSAUM
M Willment 284 Win
P Brown 6.5x47
M Samuels 6.5x47, 6.5-284
R Eager 6 Dasher, 284 Win
M Henry 6.5x47
S Green 308 Win (F/TR)
L Shehan 308 Win (F/TR)
A Seaman 308 Win (F/TR)
G Miners 6.5x55
S Rigby 6BR

I hope there's time for an update after 500 in the morning. Maybe Geoff Roberts will do that on OZSCORE. Back tomorrow.

A stirling effort by all the CTV lads. Bad luck Stu - just missed the podium by a smidgen. Great effort.

See ya back at the range.......Jeff. Roberts

Just a brief post-mortem from the coalface. As you might have guessed from some of the scores, things got rather nasty for most of the duration of the 600. My own experience was a fishtail wind that was "flopping over" from side to side. The result was a lot of 5s, 8 in fact  . John Tracey was next and watched me sympathetically as he waited to shoot, then proceeded to get even worse conditions - his first 3 shots were 4s  .

However some open shooters were scoring in the high 50s, including Adam Davies with a brilliant 59, so a well-deserved win. And a great first Canberra performance by Tim Nugent for second place. I watched Ben Ferrara's 500 earlier, and that was another brilliant effort in the conditions, so his third place was no accident. Its getting very competitive in F-Open 8) .

Tomorrow there is a trial over 900m for the FCWC team, so a good number of the F-Open field are staying on for that. Some of us will be dining (in moderation) together tonight.

That's about all for now.

Andrew,

We had about 16 shooters and 4 coaches at the 900. Conditions were pretty ordinary even by Canberra standards. Despite that, the coaches handled it pretty well, and some of the rifles performed exceptionally well in terms of vertical. Most of us had 3x20 shot shoots.

Congratulations to all the winners =D>
ADAM DAVIES F-Class Open =D>
DARYL BARLOW F-Class A Grade =D>
DAVE CHALLEN F-Class B Grade=D>
Great win by AdamD against a good field in very tricky conditions ( and ppl were worried about the 800's its the 600m that will carve you up)
So close Tim I'm sure you will not be far off a win soon must be something in the water at Cessnock RC at least you will keep Rod honest.
Well done also to the boys and girls that shot F/TR and the Canberra RC showing them recognition.=D>
=D> =D> =D>
Due to the increase entry for FO badges were extended to 8
Very well run event in light trying conditions may have to start taking notes.
Hope everybody arrived home safelyCHeers
