Australia Post missing barrel

Post by Pablolig »

Hi all
If anyone gets offered a cheap Bartlein 7mm 8.25 twist parallel 1.25" it is mine
It was all securely packed and got to the gunsmith with all package fine but no barrel in it!!
Paid $50 express post for 5.3 kgs and they were delivering an item 300 grams in weight

Frustrating!!! To say the least.
Thanks in advance

Yeah this sucks - I lost a Spuhr mount to this very issue a few years ago. Now I pay for insurance on everything.

Be interesting to know how they pay insurance, if they do in the end.
People have houses insured (including me) and they don't get paid.
You just need to listen to the news after a flood, earthquake, storm bushfires, amongst others and there is always a disclaimer for them not to pay or underpay.
What really piss me off is the lack of care.
In order to dislodge the barrel from a VERY tight and secure packaging, requires extreme force. So the handling of the goods is extremely rough.
I do not want to think that at some stage they opened package to check content (fair) and then they did a shit job re-packaging.
I can keep going...
They deserve to go broke, but sadly it won't happen

A complete rifle of mine, minus the bolt went missing with Australia post as well. They did not seem interested in investigating it and would not send me a missing items report number to give to the police for quite a while also.

Post in the UK has been known for delivering empty packages for years (my sister lives there).
I have sent three packages in the last six years with birthday presents that were opened, items removed and then resealed and delivered.

Many companies now openly say on their websites they will not ship to England due to the high level of internal postal theft.

What social policies do they have over there that we are now following in Aus....
Different groups of people have different values and ethics.
Just stating a fact.

On another note @pabloig, assuming you where sent barrel by the Australian Importer 7mm(as in barrel was actually in packaging when sent, not a dodgy private sale), go into your local PO and report to the local Post Master "the lost item is a firearm".
They will become very motivated to investigate further internally.
Going broke one primer at a time

Hi Mark,

Yes it was in the unopened 7mm.com tube AS IS.
I have reported it as a missing firearm component.

Thanks for asking.

Few things to consider.

First. Remove all firearms related information from the outside of the package. Eg cover or paint over any branding. If your sending to a gun shop or gunsmith . . . . .put the owner's name on the package NOT "Big magnum shooting supplies". Your just asking for things to go missing..

Secondly. As much as it's nice to chat to your local postie. Take the package to the post office pre wrapped and sealed and don't tell them what's in the package. I happen to send a receive a lot of "workshop tooling" . Sent a 1/2 dozen bottles of wine tonight . . . . They even put some fragile stickers on the box for me.

Lastly. We are fortunately that Aus post even carry firearms for us. As peeved as you may be that a barrel or rifle has gone AWOL think about how you handle the situation because the easiest thing for Aus post to do would be update their policy to no longer carry firearms or firearm related components.

I'm still of the opinion that if they charge for a service, they should deliver accordingly.
That's how I personally operate. And I expect no different from others.
