I shortchanged a tad on that last comment. The N550 is what I use behind 208 & 210s for match rifle. The issue is that I can't get the velocity spreads down to an acceptable level irrespective of what primer I try.

My loads with the palma brass in 308 are using 2206h so it's a fairly fast powder. When I get my .260 up and running I will have to try it with the 2209 and see how it goes. Atm I'm using cci450 magnum primers but have used rem7.5s as well imo they seem hotter than even the magnums. Anyone see any reason wgy the standard 260 could be competent in local f-open opms? It's a caliber I have used alot before for 1000+ target shooting just not in a competition setting. It'sjust a cal I am comfortable with and have had good results tuning for, I know it isn't really as popular as the 6.5x47 or 6.5x284.

Yes David, I use CCI small rifle magnum primers.

However, I intended to use the CCI250 primers as they have been excellent in my 22BR and 6x47 Lapua.

While the CCI250 primers would give enough spark to light up the long column of slow powder, a few times I inadvertently tried to seat them in a 22BR and 6x47, they were extremely hard to seat and damaged the primer a bit. I switched back to normal 450s and while it still gave occasional low shots, I didn't need to take a running jump at the primer tool to seat them. #-o

Ned, to err is human, but to make a mistake is unforgivable. Don't do it again. [-X [-o<

Mate, if it was not for the edit button we would be all screwed. I stuff up all the time. A bloke that has never made a mistake has never done anything. Don't listen to pedants, they miss the big picture. David.
