Bell & Carlson Stocks any good...

Post by sevenmil »

I am getting a new PRS/Hunting rifle built by Matt P and looking at stock options. I saw some interesting Bell & Carlson stocks that were quite a bit less expensive than McMillan and Manners stocks, but have not had any experience with them. They appear well made and come with an aluminium bedding block, but not sure how they perform - does anyone have any first hand experience with B&C's latest products ?

Consider the bedding block as pillars and epoxy bed it

I've had one on my Fstd rifle for the past 5 years (only just upgraded). Modified it with a widened front and rear bag riders. The tactical/varmint stock is definately not shaped for fcalss, but cant see why it would not function well for PRS. The aluminium block is very sound and no discernible flex. Always back to zero after removing stock from action, and not sensitivite to action screw torque.
For less than 1/2 the price of the Manners, not a bad stock
Cheers

I have one on my Tikka 308 hunting rifle and find it accurate (have shot a few possibles from 300-500yds) and very functional in the field.
A worthwhile buy.

This is a timely thread as I am looking at one for another build to be finished next year.
What magazines do the they take or do they have a non-detachable magazine type of arrangement?

Not sure, I think Badger or some such brand - I believe B & C make stocks for various actions
