We are preparing for our Prize meeting. The electronic targets are ready to go at 300 and 500 metres but a delay in Perth has meant that the 700 metre electronic has not left yet. Hopefully it will arrive in time to run it, otherwise we will manually mark 700 metres.
Sorry to all you F-Open shooters, the 800 metre electronic is still a few months away and so you will be manually marking but 3 ranges at 800 metres is a real challenge.
We are providing competition for TR A, B, C Grades and F-Standard A and B Grades as well as F-Open.

Cannot make it, working O/T tomorrow again. The good side of it is that I can put a bit more into the "kitty" for my new stock.

Looking at the scores for FO & Fstd, not the best.
Did any of the FO crew have a shot with the electronic scoring system?? What's it like??

G'Day wem,
I found the conditions tough, hard to read with unexplained vertical. I was using my .223 in FO and really had to work hard. Still, I was fairly happy as I had not shot more than 600yds before. The terrain I felt had a significant effect on the wind direction strength and therefore bullet flight.
The wind was mainly from the right and as a left handed shooter with only 2 flags visible at approx 100yds and 800yds, unless I peered over the top of the scope to see the other flags downwind of me. So I had to mainly rely on the mirage ofr most of my shooting. The wind also seemed to be switching faster than the flags or mirage could show it, so most were caught out at some time or other. Scores shot were a few 4's, 5's and 6's mainly 7's & 8's with a few 9's and odd 10. If you like, send me a PM and I'll email you the pictures of the score boards.
Guess it pushes the need for a new rifle/barrel better suited to 600+........So I'm going to save the pennies and build that 6x47 and drive it hard and see what we can make it do!

People seemed to cope very well with the electronics once they had used them once and understood the system. We eliminated check-scorers so people generally had more time to socialise.
There were a couple of teething problems. Our new 700 metre target was factory set to the wrong sensitivity and so gave erroneous results. We never had a chance to test it properly and when we realised we had a problem we switched to 600 metres which worked beautifully.
About halfway into the shoot the 500 metre started to give an occasional erroneous value and rather than persevere we switched to manually marking 500. We have had this intermittent fault before and it is a real challenge to track it down.
All the comments I heard were positive but of course people often reserve their negative comments so I too would like to get feedback from those who were there.

You need to have a look for yourself Adam. We had 4 there from Rosedale, which is over 3 hours away - there was even a shooter from Nowra in NSW. If I lived about an hour or so away I wouldn't be asking how it went.
