Jack Pollard

Post by macguru »

I was just wondering if anyone remembers a sydney gunsmith called Jack Pollard ? Can you tell me if thats the same person as gunsmith John Pollard, born just over 100 years ago and the younger brother of Alf Pollard ? I was reading a bio about the latter, my great uncle by marriage and the reference came up. John Pollard would have grown up on Norfolk island and come to Sydney in the 30s, and started gunsmithing straight after WW2....

My father had some work done on a rifle by Jack Pollard in the early 1970's. He had a workshop behind his residence in Croydon.

I have a book STRAIGHT SHOOTING compiled by JACK POLLARD.
Published by The K. G. Murray Publishing Company P/L 142 Clarence St Sydney.
I received it in 1966. There is no publication date on the book.
Cheers

There are 2 different people ....
Jack E Pollard 1926-2002
John F Pollard 1922-1977

Jack was a writer and John a gunsmith, though Jack must have been a gunsmith too, based on what what said above. Given that John died in 1977, about 45 years ago, I doubt many would remember him unless you have JF Pollard on your old barrel... maybe the croydon site was John ? I have his last address as Ashfield, which is darn close...
