indexing primers
has anyone found any benefit to accuracy by indexing primers.
if there is no runout, it probably doesn't matter.
i do not want to invest in a custom indexing tool, unless it becomes necessary to be competitve.
can anyone recommend one primer indexing tool over all others?
keep safe,
bruce.

Okay Bruce, what is primer indexation??? Some sort of annual price increase of primers? Poking them with your finger? Sorting the boxes in alphabetical order?
BTW April Fools day was a fortnight ago...
I know - this is a cunning SARA Teams plan to make the other states think they're missing something.

Hey Bruce, my Barnard (3 lugs) indexes the primers right in the middle of my chamber and the firing pin hasn't missed hitting one yet!
Seriously though, I dont know what you mean unless you are on about unifying primer pockets and aligning flash holes? The only indexation I can think of is with auto loading turret presses.

This is like a guessing contest but I guess the 'old master' will reveal all sometime soon. I use CCI primers both SR and LR and they have 3 legs on their anvil.
So I guess this is some sort of black powder thing and you carefully rotate all the primer anvils to an index, like due north? I bet I have guessed the answer and now know what inexing primers is all about, or maybe not.

Bruce,
Before you go too far, read this. Ron Boyd does not ream primer pockets or flash holes

for too long i have been giving away secrets (reducing advantages) to grasshoppers.
this one i might have to keep under wraps.
the only hints are that 2 x 3 = 6 whereas 3 x 4 = 12, and that cci br primers have the little indent in them to get t.d.c., or wherever else is best. also the use of a small file can come in handy.
keep safe,
bruce.

I use to file a mark in the rim of .222 cases to index the rounds as I fired them. It did seem to improve short range group size in a factory rifle.
To consider indexing primers is taking things just a bit far. Not even sure you could do it?
To consider indexed feeding in an F-Class match might be a mistake. While you are taking great care to feed the round into the chamber at just the right orientation, you might just miss a wind change.

we could discuss the merits of annealing primers,
but someone might try it and lose an eye!
