Whats Happened To The Supply Of HBC Projectiles

I contacted the SARA store earlier this week to order some 155gr HBCs. This is normally not a problem but they had none in stock and couldn't say when stock would arrive. It seems some machinery has broken down and stopped production.

Does anyone have any info on when the bullets will be available again?

Berger's 155gr bullets are a close match with the HBC but are not yet allowed in FS. I dont want to load develop again with Noslers so I have my fingers crossed the HBC production line will start again soon.

Thanks Alan, I just read their site update and if I understand it correctly they (HBC) have a 2 week wait on punches being made and delivered from the US of A. Its not a very clear statement as it might also mean that HBC will be back on line in 2 weeks? Whats your take on it?

Maybe we should have the Berger 155gr projectiles made available to us to use as a fill in for a while. It shows a one bullet solution for a target shooter can go horribly wrong when the prime bullet manufacturer goes legs up!

My reading of it is that when they restart production, there will be a backlog of orders causing a delivery delay of 2 weeks. It doesn't really say whether the punches have arrived or when they are expected.

As far as the predicament for HBC users goes, its becoming increasingly apparent that shooters should maintain a long term supply for themselves.

Just gone through this locally over here. Tried to order more from WARA but no luck. I heard he got 2 new sets of punches and both have broken. Someone is supposed to be coming over from USA to inspect/repair machine and bring extra punches across.

Managed to borrow 24 of the sierra 2156's for testing at 500m this weekend. Im probably going to buy 500 of them to use in the mean time as well as the 223. The top level FS shooters over here are definitely on the ball... they got them in bulk quantities when the latest batch came out.

The sooner it becomes any bullet up to 156gr and 81gr the easier its going to be on shooters being able to line up each week to shoot.

Berger make HBC projectiles, They are called VLDs. Has anyone found the 30 cal at a reasonable price ? 60c ea is too much for a poor computer repair guy

Didnt Bob Dyer sell his machine and now become a berger distributor in Aus? The 155vld and 155HBC do look similar
