So I'm turning up necks for my 30/284, all going along nicely if a tad messy since I took advice to cool my K & M cutting tool in water between cases. No matter, I can give the cases a quick trip through the tumbler when I finish to tidy them up.
96 cases done & the second battery for my cordless drill goes sleepy bye & the first one is still on the charger. Four bloody cases, Mr Murphy, you sod, 4 cases!
It's amazing how smooth & slick the cutting is with a cool tool. I used a Berger big projectile box for the job, filled 2/3 with the adjustment nut of the tool lipped over the edge & the mandrel ½ wetted. I'm figuring to dewater it with metho when I finally finish in about an hour when the battery is on charge again.

I kept the cases on the holder long enough to spin them up with some fine steel wool to polish the necks. Works fine ! Also, I bought a bosch cordless drill a while back with 2 batteries and thats one example where buying a quality drill has paid off for me
can you give us a review of the 30-284 when you get some testing done ?
cheers andrew

Murphy's law never fails to be applied when you think all is well with the world

What bullets are you going to use in your 284-30?
I'm using 200gr hybrids in 30-06AI and have a nice accuracy node at 2940fps using 2213SC. I found the group tightened up considerably changing powders from 2209 to 2213SC giving me another 30fps and bringing the group down to better than 0.25moa.
I will be interested to hear how you progress with that new calibre of yours. Especially if going to 30cal overcomes the case head expansion problems the Lapua case has in the 7mm format.

I'm playing wimp for the moment until I see how the fused neck goes. Starting out with 185s & some obsolete 190 Bergers I happen to have. I think something around 200 will be the end product, depending what the ballistic tables say when I find accurate loads for each pill.
I'm only doing this because the 6BR can't beat Tony at 1000 yards, and because I'm caught in the "fiddling is more fun than winning - almost", and because the .30 barrel came along, and.......
By the way, this is recent Lapua brass. Nioa did swap the 200 I had issues with expanding up, and that before they got any word back from Lapua. Thanks, Nioa.
