Barnard Trigger Maintenance

Anyone want to comment on the best way to keep a Barnard (Mod P) trigger in top condition?

I set mine up for two stage, (short first stage) action at a measured 8 oz with the standard spring. Triggers eventually get dusty and need cleaning, etc and I'm curious what other shooters do to maintain the nice crisp action that this trigger gives.

I wash mine in Shellite occasionally and then give it a spray with CRC Silicone which dries off and leaves a slippery residue. Just recently I had my first ever trigger release failure while in a comp but reset it and it continued to work. Took it apart yesterday and placed it in a glass dish of Shellite in my sonic cleaner for 5 minutes and adjusted and put it back into the action without any silicone spray.

What do you guys do?

I degrease and treat with Froglube. Once treated its a dry lube and protect coating that does not let dust stick to it like an oil.

I soak them in 2 stroke fuel for a few hours then blow into all the holes with an air gun.

I still haven't tried Froglube because your much lauded offer of supply to the FCWC team fizzled out.

Alan, I would have loved to support the F Class team, but the size of the squad made it impossible for me to fund as an individual, and I was unable to get US supplier support for an overseas team.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks a film of lubricant on the trigger is the way to go! I would never have thought of using two stroke fuel as the cleaner and lubricant all in one. Probably worth bottling and marketing as an all in one trigger solution, its a great suggestion!
