Hi All

Post by Benz »

New member here , well me and my partner Kathryn Davy.
We have shot a few times at the local range and so far had success with our first attempts at fullbore tr on peepsights at 800metres which was pretty cool, next up we had a go at field rifle, then were drawn into trying out F class and seeing all the fancy gear and there is some pretty shiny gear at our small club. So now we are hooked and have tried .223 and .308, Linda even let me try out her fancy Joy pod on her own FTR and that yielded some good results for me there too, even got to try out some of mrs Brad Yates yummy cupcakes. Kathryn gets a bit timid with the larger cal and bigger bang so we will try some more .308 to see if she manages to reel in the kick but tomorrow will be the day for the trial of 6.5x47 which I am really looking forward to. Forecast tomorrow is definitely not flash for our 500m shoot with 20kph sou'wester. Looking forward to asking plenty of questions from all in ozFclass so expect plenty of chatter from this user in the coming months. Currently have got a stock being finalised and we are trying out various calibres and researching scopes at the moment etc to build to be competitive but at a price point, research and reading doesn't cost much fortunately!!! Thanks to the support from Brad D and Linda S and all others from Coolilup Range :D

You and your partner are certainly starting out the right way, finding some mentors to show you the ins and outs of the sport, trying different calibres and styles. You will certainly get lots of helpful info on this forum from plenty of friendly and experienced shooters, but nothing beats having someone on hand to show you face to face.
Good luck and have fun.

:) always happy to help out. Congrats on your first possible today at 600 yards Ben. I am sure it is the first of many to come.

The only stupid question is the one you don't ask . ;)

Thanks Linda but its not just the person behind the trigger, all I have done and any success I might have is attributed to my coaching Mentors and their guidance, support and patience. Don't forget the first class tools.
Kat feels a little frustrated for not asking the silly questions though, and really enjoys having you Linda, Brad D and Carol to chat too as well.
Next weekend will be different again, I think we have narrowed down our calibre after today, the 6.5x47 does well and Kat says she can manage the recoil a lot better than 308winnie.
Once again a Big thanks for all your help today from Kat and I to our coaching Mentors 8)
