SARA Queens F-Open Report
Hello from Lower Light. Once again I hope to bring some news from the coalface, maybe even some pics and specs! Not sure where and when results will be posted, possibly here : http://www.riflesa.asn.au/Queens.htm. Today should be fine, about 17C, and a moderate headwind developing. Will do a short report tonight.

Re: SARA Queens F-Open Report
Good luck to all the competitors and hopefully you don't get any of the conditions of earlier in the week.
Unfortunately I won't be able to attend due to family obligations but I'm hoping to get out on the Monday to see the winners and grinners!!
Good luck and good shooting!

Re: SARA Queens F-Open Report
Looks like the forecast for the event is quite good. Sunny skies and 15 to 20KmHr winds.
Good luck to the Vic's!
And hopefully the locals can keep them honest.
Alan, if the calcutta gets up I might just put a few dollars down on you. Otherwise the Braund boys will be hot on the money!
Enjoy!!!

Re: SARA Queens F-Open Report
Hello again,
I promised to get back tonight, but expected to see today's results on the SARA website. As I write this, they aren't there, and I didn't even hang about to look at or photograph the results posted on the noticeboard. I can tell you that all the F-Classes except F/TR only have about 5 entrants in the Hunt. F/TR has a couple more. There could be couple of reasons for the low numbers (1) I know quite a few are shooting in other upcoming events (Match Rifle, LR F and one of the PALMA events) and that seems to be enough shooting for them (2) The replacement accommodation for the Nissan huts is still a work in progress, so accommodation is a problem for some.
I can tell you how F-Open is going (approximately) after today's 300, 500 and 600m.
I am leading Richard Braund by 2, with Stuey Braund and Graham Mincham back 3 more. Sorry I have no idea who's where in the other F-Classes.
Weather was as forecast, with a medium strength headwind starting during the 300m and continuing all day. It gradually worked its way round from 11 o'clock to 1 o'clock over the course of the day, and was doing the usual Lower Light direction changes. Mirage was readable, but causing the aiming mark to jump around a bit too much for my liking.
Back tomorrow night folks.

Thanks for the update Alan. It's a shame sara haven't go something up yet?!
Conditions sound challenging enough separate the men from the boys but to too erratic that you'll be off the list in a bad patch.

Re: SARA Queens F-Open Report
These days, anybody using the NRAA software will post their results on the NRAA website, as for example: http://www.nraa.com.au/south-australia-queens-results/

Re: SARA Queens F-Open Report
Not sure what time the results were posted though. When I got back from the range there were no NRAA results (for any ranges). With the SARA results, I might have missed when they first got posted, because a page refresh was needed.

Re: SARA Queens F-Open Report
Final results for the Hunt are here : http://www.riflesa.asn.au/Queens.htm
I managed to keep the lead from yesterday, with Graham Mincham being the big mover winning today's daily agg and relegating RB to third. Weather was on the whole a little easier today, beginning with a tricky tailwind, then moving around to about 2 o'clock for most of the afternoon. Wind strength would best be described moderate.
NEWSFLASH : Because of expected strong winds on Monday, the match executive committee met late today and decided to rearrange the Queens program. Here is what I was told :
There will be a few joining the F-Open field tomorrow, including Spencer Dunstall, Geoff Krake and Mark Tyler, so that should add some interest. Spencer has been putting in some very good shoots lately, and Geoff and Mark were first and third respectively in a big Vic Queens field in April.
BTW the F/TR class is producing some great scores here. Mick Willment only dropped 2 points today, and he's being pushed all the way by that old stager Greg Warrian.

Well Done Alan,
Fantastic Result. Best of luck for the rest of the comp.
Does anyone else get a server error on the S.A.R.A for the results page?

Craig,
Try refreshing the Queens page. If still a problem let me know and I'll download the pdfs to ozfclass.

Re: SARA Queens F-Open Report
Hmmm this slow results saga is getting the better of me. They must have seen me photographing the board yesterday so got the results out quickly. So today I decided on no photograph because they appear to have their act together. Bad decision, a bit like some of the wind calls I made today
.
Anyway, I can tell you that the F-Open field has increased to 12!
And I was able to get a calibre list (in no particular order) :
R Braund 284
S Braund 284
G Mincham 6.5x51 Creedmoor
G Krake 6XC, 7 SAUM
M Tyler 6BR, 284
S Dunstall 6.5x47
J Roberts 6.5x47, 280AI
J Ziersch 6.5x47
J Parker 6BR
B Lange 284
D Dolphin 6.5x47
A Fraser 7 Shehane
F-Open Daily agg will go to Graham Mincham who dropped only 5, followed by Richard Braund who dropped 7, and there are a couple of others who may be close to Richard (e.g. Mark Tyler). Wind was moderate to strong from about 4 o'clock for most of the day, apparently fairly typical. Some (mostly interstate) shooters got a bit knocked around. In F/TR Mike Willment was on fire in the Hunt, but today he suffered the wrath of the wind gods too. He's still battling for the lead with Rod Mahon and a couple of others, but it doesn't look like they'll be approaching F-Open scores as happened in the Hunt.
I hope the SARA website is updated tonight. Don't hold your breath with the NRAA one though. They seem to have abandoned that idea part way through the Hunt.
