The pills are beautifully made looking at the pic. Should whistle pointed in the right twist. Like to see Aussie made get a run.

i received my sample this morning so I won't chime in with anymore photos. What I have done is weigh the bullets though and I can report there is a 0.4gr variance between the lightest and heaviest bullet, with the lightest coming in at 182.80gr and the heaviest at 183.20gr - there were two bullets at the light end and two at the heavy end with the remaining 21 all coming in between 183gr neat to around 183.14gr. My local weekend shoot is at 800 metres this Saturday so I plan to run the bullets in comparison with the Berger 180vlds. The VLDs like a 10 thou jam or a 40 thou jump in my 280AI so hopefully one or the other works well with the Copperheads.

Do you mean 2.4gr. variation? Or that the lightest bullet was 184.8 or something else?

I calculated my seating depth last night.

My gunsmith owns the reamer that chambered my 284 and I don’t know the exact figure for the freebore, but is suits the Berger 180’s well.

It seats the 180VLD just above shoulder neck junction, certainly don’t need more Fb for the copperhead. If anything less would be better.

I sent the pics to Rod Davies who commented he thought the ogive looks more like a hybrid design rather than a VLD

I haven’t yet calculated bearing surface length, but it’s obviously a fair bit shorter than both the VLD and Hybrids.

I’m hoping to chronograph these bullets this weekend.

I doubt just loading what works with your 180VLD and hoping will work Bearing surface is different, also a lot more airspace in the case as bullet seats further forward.

Yes, will likely need a touch more powder to keep the same speed (node). I wont be at the range for a few more months, but will try to chrony some sooner at least to see ballpark what sort of powder load changes are needed to keep the same speed (node)

So a quick powder charge test today.

These copperheads are going to need quite a bit more powder to get up to speed and pressure. I normally load the 180VLD jammed 0.015 with 50.6gr of 2209 which yields 2815fps

I ran a quick test up to 51.7gr without getting near my target velocity. Jump was 0.015 and Jam was 0.010

As I haven’t run Hybrids before I tested them at the same time. Here’s the data for comparison.

Yes I shot groups with a 1.1gr powder spread. Hybrids grouped very well considering the powder spread.

The copperheads I think are well out of the node.

I have a 1000yard shoot next weekend, I’m going to run the hybrid load for that and come back and revisit the copper heads with more powder.
