I was testing a new barrel this week with some different components and thought I’d try a ladder test.
7saum at 900 yds
Load - 180 hyb with 2209 55.3 to 56.5 in .3 gn increments.
My issue with the test was the last 4 went into approx 1”
Weird hey
Yea, if a new barrel doesnt behave properly in ladder tests early on, you are only wasting components firing more out of it.
Im after a fire forming barrel, so I will swap you a jug of powder for it if you like.
It’s great having friends willing to help out

Hi Tim, I thought that about one of my barrels also. 180 bergers 9 twist it does not matter what I feed it. 2209, 22132sc. RL23 it loves everthing, only has 160 rounds on it. Its sitting in the carboard for a special day. Peter Carter

Hey Peter
Hope all is well in the land of the free
I have been fortunate to have a few barrels that behaved well.
One was a 280AI which I “ran in” by shooting 2 stages with a load 1gn below what I thought was max then proceeded to shoot the same load without changing the seating depth for the life of the barrel with plenty of 60s !
