At my range about half of the NF scopes have had problems with mechanicals. I guess that is acceptable but the repair process has been slow and unreliable (they need to go to the US via Lightforce in SA). Maybe things have picked up very recently.

There is of course a smidgeon of tongue in cheek in my comment - I am a Leupold fan .

Geez Alan you guys must be rough players, we have multiples of them at our place and have never had a moment of prolem.

Could be something in what you say Lynn, or possibly manufacturing standards have gone through good and bad periods. Not sure. Its mainly the service that I've had a beef with, but you wouldn't have experienced that with no problems to fix.

Sent one back yesterday, brand new , went to zero at 300 and had a two foot group, i had a rattle in it , the other two i have have not missed a beat in eight years, the one sent back was dated january 2009.

Maybe the problem is in the newer productions, ours have been around for a while. How old are the ones you know of Alan?

From about 2 years to about 6 months ago Lynn. I've also noticed more "quiet mentions" of NF problems at Queens. Prior to that the general concensus was that Leupolds had more problems than NF.

Part of it could simply be there are more NF by %age now - I suspected there was some of that when Leupold were the dominant brand.

Most NRAA ranges have range safety templates based on lead core projectiles that tend to break-up on impact. I'd question whether these projectiles can be used, check at <rules@nraa.com.au>

My NXS sometimes seems to give some strange POI changes.

Small windage adjustments seem to give un explained large shifts at times.

Try clamping your rifle onto something very solid, such that the scope is focussed somewhere you can attach a tape. Then move the knob(s)/tap the scope etc. and note the readings on the tape. IMO there are too many variables testing scopes by shooting and watching POI.

Not sure - I've never been able to find a serial number on the NF either - must make them hard to keep track of for repairers. Do you know what the "LOW" indicates?
