what sort of malfunction?

Occasionally a failure to register shots but more likely error messages appear on the screen for no reason.

One which we are particularly aware of is shots appear outside the group at exactly 45 degrees to the horizontal or vertical and exactly halfway between the centre of the target and the corner. A very precise placement.

When the target fails it fails consistently. It doesn't give the occasional problem.

With good preventative maintenance the problems do not occur.

taking a Queens shoot, 10 shooters per target, 4 ranges x 10 shots per day over 5 days = 2000 rds. Add a Merrett match and practise and the target is due for an overhaul. James

Yep,
Did one on wednesday. Two people
drop the target
return it to the shed
remove old face and back
rotate rubber
vacuum out chamber
new face and back
new aiming mark
reinstall target
3 hours including travel time

Mind you, that was a full refurbish on cardboard. We tend to drop the targets about every 1500 rounds and patch out the central area front and back, new centre pasted then back up.
Target centres do last a very long time if you are not patching each shot.
300 metre centres are a problem however. We now cover the centre bull area with rubber.
TR shooters can't see it, F-class shooters use it as an aiming point and we can go close to 100 shots before we need to touch the target.
