A question about the Swanbourne mounds please? Are long spikes needed (on front and rear rests), and if so, what length/diameter of spikes are normally allowed and used?

Thanks for any advice.

Alan

Alan,

Although not shot much F Class at Swanbourne, they are still tha same ones used by the TR guys and girls. They are pretty good I reckon, and after being to Bisley, they look even better!!

The spikes can only be 50mm long max as per SSR's. If the CRO doesn't know this, someone in the FO/FS community will, which is usually where the question will be posed. From memory, there is no mention of rear bag spikes in the SSR's, if you don't ask the question, nobody has to look it up :)

On the mounds themselves: it is not much of a problem, never heard much whinging about the soil or mounds. Believe me, if it was a problem, we would hear about it all day, every day...

Look forward to seeing you here mate, and also using the bipod from Cookie. Thanks for the effort, we can have a beer when you get here.

Rod,

I'm halfway there. In the middle of the Nullabor waiting for the billy to boil. Fortunately there's Next G coming from a tower at the roadhouse a few ks up the road.

I'm bringing some threaded rod and my trusty hacksaw, so can make the rest legs according to local rules!

See you Friday.

Alan

Ok, do you mean Thursday? We will be at the range from Wednesday arvo. Will need the bipod first thing Friday, but you probably know that.

I think the first bit is a quote from me. Again, thanks mate for the bipod. I like the simplicity of using them, too much farting around with the heavy front rests for my liking.
