The reason I ask Barry is my rest does rely on the large witch hat shaped sand spike to give me additional elevation.
If were to roll up with my equipment as is I would be in trouble having to adapt what I had to get the job done NOT A GOOD POSITION TO BE IN IF TRAVELLED ALL THAT WAY. May do one's head in right from the get go.
I did experience this at the 09 Teams Match at the 1000yd line surprise! Surprise!
BTW I love the fake grass beautiful to shoot no.

Thanks Lynn.
I was once pulled up at Lower Light for having the handle of my shooting Mat hooked over the trailing adjustment knob of my front rest. I was quite new to the sport at this time and was told that this breached the same rule.

I too at last years VRA queens was not aware of the 1000yd suprise, a little bit of mad scrambling for spanners etc in the back of my car got me through. Lucky I wasn't first down.

Have contacted the VRA and asked them to advise all about the new mound covering, together with advice that spikes will not be allowed.

Good work Barry
it is understandable that some f-Class related things can get overlooked.
Cheers

I would think that any object that would pierce or be likely to pierce the matting would be considered as not allowed, and that includes rifle rests and scope stands as used by TR shooters.
However, that is my opinion.

Great to see the VRA has put out a notice. Here it is for all to see:
Dear Members
The VRA has recently refurbished all firing points at the Wellsford Rifle Range Bendigo, including the grading and laying of synthetic grass.
Please note that as a result of this SPIKES WILL NOT BE PERMITTED on the firing points.

I remember getting a surprise some time ago when the 1000 yards was first resurfaced. It caused a rethink on how to setup for that mound.

Hi All
Is there a way of getting a definitive answer on the Witches hat sand foot.
I think most Fclass pedestal rest have some form of tapered pointing to them, do we all have to find a tool maker to turn up dead flat (special for Bendigo) feet ???? that's BS.
Let's get real, what is a spike ??, a 2" nail is a spike, and sand foot as shown above is NOT (imho)

There is a definite way to get an answer --contact the VRA with a photo of the sand foot and preferably some dimensions to go with it.
If the point is so shaped that it is likely to damage the matting by putting a hole in it, then it's about as close to a spike as you can get.

Just put down a firm rubber mat and then put your rest on top, I cant see any problems there, Chop.

Graham,
Any problems let me know and we'll definitely sort something out - it'd be rediculous if something like this was to keep you away.
