Have to agree Mark re streaming. A few hiccups but that is to be expected.
Very interesting to sit in the comfort of my lounge and watch it shot for shot. Without being critical, the totals as shown were not always correct and many times sighters were counted in final scores. I am not familiar with the technical aspects of it but as a suggestion ( if it is possible ) sighters could be shown in another colour ( red for example ) As I said not wishing to be critical as I thoroughly enjoyed watching it all.
Congrats to WARA for having a go.

Brad that last photo speaks 1000 words.
I cannot express how thrilled I am to see that photo.
Congratulations to WARA for leading the way and having the F Class winners walk in front of the chaired TR winner, and this year have them seated on the dais.
F class has no traditions, so we must make our own. Thank you WARA for allowing F Class to start a tradition in Western Australia, and have F Class winners presented in a similar manner as the Queens TR winner.
Well done to all the WA Queens winners. That range looks so friendly after LL.

Linda- being totally new to it (this was my first ever prize shoot and first ever queens) I had no idea just how poorly the F Classers had been treated in the past until speaking to a few people after the presentations. Things will change- give it time. Also the winner badges had f class standard and open printed on them and they also got last years re made the same.

Just to explain, the incorrect totals was due to a software glitch that was fixed by Saturday and the sighters being counted in the final scores was due to the shooter not pressing "cut sighters" on the monitor. Minor issues though and it was bloody handy to be able to go and have a cuppa and still keep up with the scores using my iPhone.
Brad, the Queens will be held at Swanbourne next year. The army has guaranteed us access until the end of 2013. After that who knows?

Very well done Brad. And thanks for keeping us informed. And the Bill Hallam juggernaut continues in F-Std I see. Congrats to all winners. Regarding ETs and live streaming - that was always going to be one of the big pluses for ETs. Glad to hear that WARA is pioneering the technology.

Well done again Brad and Mark on the Grand.
Do I read the score card correct. from 407.23 to 459.29 = a 52.6 on last range?? Interesting score!

Thanks Alan. The Hallam juggernaut is indeed strong. He said he has no intention of shooting open which is probably lucky for alot of other shooters as he is a red hot wind reader and builds his guns well.
The live scores were good but yes only as good as the person using the monitor. From what I saw, lots of shooters arent very technology literate and the ET's probably confuse them a fair bit. Kim Potter at Target Solutions is the man to thank behind all the electronic target works here and he put alot of hours in over the weeks prior to and during the shoot. Another thing to note was that the whole site crashed due to unprecedented traffic. There was something like 400,000 hits to the WARA site over the weekend.
Dave- the scores were put up wrong all weekend, I dont know why. Not many people managed to get 50 at the last range let alone 6 X's as it was so hard to pick a consistant condition! Put it this way, half way through my string after my second 4, I took a breather and wished the 6.5 suddenly became a 338LM and I didnt have to worry about the wind.
My 6 X's from the 60.6 at 800yds werent added until the very end. And points wise Im not sure what happened there. Daily agg prize scores were sometimes wrong and the FS guys were given the FO medals for last days agg. Nobody made a scene which was good as it kept things running. I will send WARA an email tonight as I got a silver for the first days (actually first 3 ranges over sat arvo and sun morning) agg but according to my records I took it by one X. There were alot of people there and organisers were kept busy trying to keep it moving forward to get the 5 days of shooting into 4 days. At the end of it I think we were all too knackered and frazzled from the sun to worry about questioning it. I know I just wanted a cold beer and a sleep after monday!
By the way Dave, unsure if you have been notified but they redid last years badges to say F Class on them and I see no reason why there shouldnt be one there for you- might want to contact WARA.

Out of curiosity - what was it? I'm happy to pass on mine; I'm using 37.6gn reloader 15 and it gets 3015 fps out of the 123gn scenars with remarkably low es (single digits usually!). However, I can't always get RL15 and it would be nice to have an alternative with ADI powder.
cheers,
Andrew.

Hi Andrew,
There is a few rifles running the 123 (and 130) bullets very well on 2208 up here. 2209 will generally be a compressed load. Try 2208 and start around 36.5 grains and work up.
Three loads in three rifles are
1) 10 thou jump with 123 Scenar and standard BR primers - 37.0 grains 2208.
2) Another rifle likes same but 38 grains (different batch of powder??, different rifle but same muzzle velocity- both 31-32 inch barrels and around 3000fps. and also like you very low velocity deviation)
3) I also have one running on 37 grains but with 130 VLD and a bit of a jam. this is 30 inch barrel and around 2950fps.
From the above rifles I have seen many many 60.8's and above and nearly perfect waterline every week. I will reflect Matt P's earlier comment - they are a very accurate and enjoyable cartridge to shoot.!!! I think the perfect 300-800 yard cartridge.
The BR primers seem to work well up here with 2208 in the warm climate - not sure about BR primers with 2209 and cooler temps.??

37.5gr 2208 and CCI450 primer with berger 130 hunting vld (all I could get hold of). Bullet length you will have to play with. Always found bergers to like a 10 thou jam, but for some reason or another that rifle preferred 40 thou jump so I was jumping them that. The usual warnings apply- start lower and work up in your rifles.
Load development started 3 weeks before the queens at a club prize shoot. I loaded the 37.5gr charge (after some suggestions from Matt P) with 80 thou and 40 thou jump and 10 thou jam. Then the following week at regular club shoot at 900m I shot a 57.6 with the 40 thou jump and dialled in on the condition with last 5 shots all X's. Then tried 41gr of 2209 and same jump which shot about a minute higher than the 2208 load but waterline wasnt quite as good with a 59.3 ( I had the condition fairly well sorted and the lost shot was low from memory) The 2208 load I found to shoot so flat and got me higher X counts so I made my mind up to use that. The week after I had a go with a known short range load with 120gr SMK's and 39.8gr of 2209 at 300m but they were way too wind affected for my liking.
I shot all weekend without a known no wind zero only a guess and had no elevation zeros for any of the yard ranges. Our home range is in meters and I just worked on general come ups between ranges. Sometimes it worked, other times my first sighters were in the 2 ring and I had to crank the scope a heap to get into the middle. Thumbs up again to Brad Day for his awesome rifle- a savage target action, one of his custom stocks, hart barrel and nightforce BR scope.
