norm,
get a tang sight and mount it on the heel of your stock.
this will allow you to shoot one of the back positions.
this is commonly done in britain today.

a few sighters never hurt. as far as lucky shot,
if you were coyote shit you might have called it an unlucky shot.

1500 @ Coona with a 180g x 7mm saum 41moa up from a 100m zero, got to love that saum. :D just don't tell anyone :oops:

I didn`t have my usual Match Rifle with me last year at Coonabarabran,the figure quoted was 21 minutes above the 1200 yard setting,with usual Match Rifle loads.I was using a 26" barrelled Omark with 175 grain SMK`s,there was 12 minutes of elevation left after 1200 yards,so used mil dots to get there,probably 26 minutes in total.After a few shots went and helped the markers who were having a hard job with subsonic bullets having no sound and not kicking up dust on impact.The long range F/class rounds however were wacking in quite well.
The 22 power scope would be more than adequate,for the size of the target,16 power is enough.
