John, you might find this interesting about testing 22 rimfire ammo in a ballistic lab using a tunnel. http://nielsonbrothersarms.com/22%20Concentricity.htm

Lapua's tunnel testing facility for rimfire ammo. http://www.rifleshootermag.com/2012/04/ ... ce-center/

Leaving the rimfires behind for a moment most of the big bullet manufacturers use tunnels for testing and developing new designs. Even some individuals use tunnels to perfect their loads and reloading techniques. This guy even used them to see if neck turning could provide an accuracy increase! http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/200 ... ned-necks/

If I had access to a 100m tunnel for testing my loads I would be in seventh heaven! At the moment I would even settle just for some reasonable weather in Adelaide.

There is reports of an old disused railroad tunnel through the Great dividing range - how would you like a 1000 yard tunnel?? :D
