Rod,
I have been using moly throughout my F-Open career, and only bought it once. A 100gm container of it has done approx 23,000 6.5 and 7mm bullets

Now you may think this is avoiding your question, but I'm not well qualified to answer it, having used bugger all bullets uncoated! But I will say I've never been aware of serious carbon build-up in any of my barrels. Recently there has been some talk of "ceramic" carbon fouling - again I don't believe its happened in my barrels. The roughness in the throat area I've always put down to erosion of the steel bore from heat and pressure. To smooth this out I use Iosso every 200 or so rounds initially, then more frequently as the barrel ages. If that is actually due to carbon build-up (and I don't claim to know definitely), then it sounds like moly doesn't prevent it.
