I believe what you have there, Denis,is a brake down of winchester's quality control. I had about 20 of them in a bag of winchester brass (223) about 5 years ago. They gave me a new bag for my troubles.

How did the primer pockets hold up with the wsm brass?
I know with my 308 brass after 3 firings the Primers fell out onto the bench .
So many case prep hours wasted . Life I can not get back

I have some of these Winchester brand 300WSM cases with over 12 firings on them and the primer pockets are still as tight as new. I've only been running 185 Jugs at the low node of 2910fps with ar2213sc though so don't expect them to be loose.

It is quite possible that the scratch is from manufacture.
If the scratch is on body, shoulder and neck it possibly came from either a scratch in the draw or heading die. When a scratch develops in a carbide die it usually picks up brass, this is what causes the scratch on a case.
When produced at drawing it will partly fold over on the edges, when going through the heading process. When being tapered the scratch will show a thinning effect towards the shoulder, this can be seen under a strong magnifying glass.

Its a manufacturing fault.

Denis, that crumple in the shoulder and neck is from a tad too much lube in the neck forming die during case manufacture. Sometimes two or three may appear on a single case. Surprisingly those dimples will not move or Iron out with tens of multiple firings but the case necks will eventually Iron out!
