i stand to be corrected, but i was under the impression that muzzle brakes were allowed in IBS HG 1000yd BR and HG IBS 600yd BR, because originally, muzzle brakes were only legal on light guns.
if light gun shooters wished to enter heavy gun, they were required to remove their muzzle brakes.
so i suppose given the potential recoil of some of the legal light gun calibres once their brakes were removed (not to mention very likely retina damage), the rules were adjusted to allow muzzle brakes across all 1000/600 IBS BR classes of competition.
if this was not the case, i would welcome any other explanation.
off the subject, and once again standing to be corrected, a while ago, i think i read on the NRAA website that the total membership was around 6000 members.
is anyone able to provide an approximate up to date NRAA membership number????
referring back to the IBS 600yd BR concept, in my opinion, the challenge of tuning and developing any precision rifle to shoot small groups and high scores (blind) at either 600 or 1000yards has to be actually experienced to fully appreciate, the difficulties involved.
not to mention, the added emphasis on condition interpretation and estimating the required allowances between or for each blind shot.
cheers
