Sorry I missed your post until now. Regarding the 6.5HI, a 260AI might be easier as you say. I gather the main aim with the HI is to improve barrel life (long neck, less capacity). Keith showed us his prototype of a long necked 6mm version of the 6.5x47 Lapua - looks promising. And yes, I call the 284Win the 7mm-284, mainly because it is less common than the 6.5-284, and most use Lapua 6.5x284 brass necked up.
