I'm not sure that 60.10 counts as it was shot in under 5 minutes

Great effort Matt. I do think it counts, and a brilliant job at 800m! Was that a 280AI that you got it with? If so the SA contingent will be very pleased

In the meantime I will report back from my time at the coal face.
The last 3 days have been fairly windy as weather reports indicated. Luckily the wind was (usually) fairly consistent. When Matt shot the record breaking 60.10 at 800m most 7mms were running around 5-6 moa of wind and F/TR guns were running around 9-10 moa.
Today for the 300M, when Andrew Beavis shot a 60.10, most had around 1-1.5 moa of wind and at the first 600 the wind was picking up further. Looking at scores for the 3rd 600M the wind was getting trickier. It is close amongst the first few F Open shooters on the first day with Andrew Beavis, Phil De La Rue and Ben Ferrara only a few Xs apart. In F/TR, Geoff Epplestone is showing that his QRA Queens win was no fluke to lead Daniel Sly and Garry Faulkner on the first day. In TR, surprise, surprise it is James Corbett in his usual position at the end of day 1.
Someone asked weather the F std A grade and F/TR winning Faulkners are related, well they are father and son so there is something in the genes for sure. The father has been shooting for over 50 years and the son around 4 years but learning quickly.
So far it has been fairly sunny with possible rain forecast for this afternoon and tomorrow.
Maybe those still onsite can assist with equipment lists but among the front runners, 6MMs seemed to be common in the short ranges with the odd mid sized 6.5 being used. As usual 284s were very popular across the course. At the longs, the 7mm SAUMs seemed to be popular amongst the front runners with a few 280AIs also being up there.
The weather forecast for tomorrow is still a bit windy, but the easier 500m and 700M targets might help a little. I did not get any pictures from the range but will see if I can get someone to snap some gossip pictures.

By my calculations, Steve Rigby has finally cracked a Queens . Steve has been shooting the NSW Queens for a lot of years and always in the hunt, so well deserved.

A big congratulations to Steve Rigby for winning F Open, he has always been up there and he had this coming. Congrats also to Greg Warrian, Lewis Reynolds and Ben Ferrara who were just behind. Commiserations to Dave Dobson who was in top form in the lead but had to pull out of the Queens due to illness.
Congrats also to Geoff Epplestone for backing up his QRA Queens win to win F/TR in NSW as well.
Congrats to Peter Johnson for winning F std A grade and to James Corbett for his 31st Queens win in TR A grade.

Certainly an interesting competition, with some brilliant highs in TR (multiple 50.10's on 1 range ) and 60.10 at 800m by Matt.

But then some incredible lows where the conditions must have been super tough! That's why 5 days of competition is a brilliant way of sorting the men from the boys. Well done!
