Thanks for the kind words Denis. A bad day at North Arm is tough as you know but at least I can accept a bad wind call for what it is. Way out there I feel as if I've moved from the realm of physics to the Twilight Zone and I know SFA.
BTW I recently read that Bryan Litz is proposing new ELR standards that include no sighters, cold bore, successive hits.

Rules like that will surely effectively rule out all but the serious campaigners with the big powerhouse long range shooting cartridges ? Costly !!

I really like the idea of no sighters and counting shots from cold bore because that introduces some real challenges: wind reading obviously, makes sure you know your zero and how your rifle behaves on that first shot of the day and after cleaning perhaps.
At our club ranges, that shouldn't be overly difficult as there is no deviance in distances, everything is measured and repeatable and after months/years we learn and can better understand the impact of wind on those ranges. But it would be a significantly greater challenge to shoot even the distances we currently cover over un tried terrain, if we didn't have wind flags and perhaps had to rely on laser range finders (or just a scope reticle) for that first shot of the day. Very kool challenge and I admire anyone that can successfully pull that off regularly.

True Gyro, but lesser mortals with smaller wallets can apply the same rules at shorter ranges eg 1500m to 1609m. At present I need a sighter to confirm ballistics and wind guesses. No sighters takes it to another level.

Lee Trengrove has built one for Heavy BR. He favours the 215 Hybrid over the too long-bodied 230.

Hey does anyone know what app he is using for a satilite Range fix? Would be much better than a sight stick ?

Also shooting at a 24” Target at 3000 yards on 5 power ??? That is crazy !!! It seemed to survive the transonic zone !! It really fires me up to have a go ! But just trying to find land with a suitable line of sight is a huge problem!! Was very hard with 1.7 km .

I know he uses and iPhone and app called 'Measuring Tape'. I use that one myself, albeit for much shorter distances... sure beats using an actual measuring tape for that distance

I believe this is the same app called distance measure . One thing though , u have to use as line of sight only or one will be in error !

Not if you want to shoot F-Class Mick - .338 exceeds 8mm.

Alan, I think you have missed the point.

There are now a number of ranges that cater for rifles that are fun to shoot , Warracknabeal Rifle Club has just one of these ranges , and caters for fclass and fun rifles.
We welcome shooters to come and enjoy our range.

Sorry about that. I saw the 8mm max in your first post and went off half-cocked. If its open slather on calibre then 50 cals seem to be the best performers for accuracy at ultra-long range, but very expensive to run.
