Wouldn't this put those who stay or live close to the range at an advantage?

I know a few who will be competing who will drive out each day and who's travel time is over 1 hour.

Unless they have a designated "blow off" prior to the shoot at a time where it is fair and reasonable to all competitors then it should not be allowed.

I am in favor of a "blow off" period but a more realistic time frame of between 8am -8-30am would seem a fair option.

I'm in agreement that this needs to be incorporated and made official at all our big competitions Australia wide. As far as the time for allowing fouler shots, it needs to be allocated at a reasonable time before the comp starts. I think allowing foulers only prior to 7.00am is too early for most.

Some thought needs to be given to the best way to incorporate this into the days schedule and keep everyone onside.

Those with barrels and training techniques for clean bore shots do not need to participate in the prior to competition blow-off period.

If the facility was there you would use it whether or not you had the clean barrel technique down pat. Stupid if you didn't.

Although in briz I choose not to and had confidence in what I was doing

I think the issue with fouling shots is very easily sorted on ranges with a separate "zeroing" range. Let the competition proceed as it has done for the last 100 or so years, but at least give us an opportunity to shoot on the zero range for as many fouling shots as needed. I was lucky in that my barrel settled right in after one fouler, but I have had other barrels which just shot random patterns for the first 10 or so shots. Surely it cant hurt to allow people to have some blow of shots on a separate range if they want to do the extra work and drive down to a separate zero range.

That can be an issue at Belmont, where you are not permitted under the range approvals to shoot before 8:00 & that's the time when the Queens start off.

And what we can expect from you over the Queens ? How many points start are you giving Raven ? Etc etc etc.......

don't expect much from me.
I am an old has been.
2 weeks before the queens, my gun started giving vert, which, while not being fantastic, was not bad for a fair while prior.
this coincided with a new batch of powder.
I have never experienced this before, powder seeming to be quite consistent from batch to batch.
this could also be connected with the fact that the throat is a bit longer, and has been chased, giving slightly greater case capacity.
all I could do was a ladder test in the time available, and the node was about 0.5 gn higher than previously. no chance to verify this since and test further.
as far as fixed, we will just have to hope!
what raven and other shooters do is beyond my control, as is what the weather gives each of us during the course of the event.
the way things seem, sometimes what happens to me is also beyond my control, but me is all I can do anything about.
it is all about having fun with friends, and seeing what falls out at the end.
you just have to get that ammo unloaded.
