Max velocity is one thing barrel tune is another and thats what we look for the accurate workable velocity.
I like the fence post when it meet some sandpaper it will be ready for some pimping

BTW Norm I would give the 168gr a serious look they can hammer
Raven,
It looks a bit different now that its Mac Millan F-Class stock has been fitted.
Thanks for the tip on the 168gn pills, I will give them a try.
Quick, The vertical at 1000 was enough to go out the 6 ring at 12 and 6 O'clock once the barrel heated up. As Raven suggests, some more load development will help I am sure.

Norm,
Thats unfortunate. I'll be trying 168gr VLD for the shorts and to 700-800 and using 180gr VLD for the longs in my 7mm-08AI. If you get the 168gr fast enough they can match the 180gr VLD for wind drift.
Thats a shame about your 284, probably just needs a seating depth change to shrink it a bit. Thats what ive found with my 6mm barrels.

The issue with the Lawton .284 was that it developed a hang fire and then did not go off at all.
Then when attempting to unload the rifle, it went off. Not nice, so the rifle was retired for the rest of the duration of the event.
I think your idea of running the 168's in the shorts is a good one.

Yeah, it's got good ballistics but should also shoot well I think.

I found the above in the archives ! Was interesting and what Norm found with the small rifle primers not achieving the faster speeds!
