Edited earlier post to make it more relevant as figures I gave were for larger cases. Sorry.

A follow up for this thread.

Ive recently had a krieger 13.5 twist 6BR varmint barrel done up with a no turn neck and no freebore reamer from PT&G.

The only prep I did to the 6BR cases was chamfer the case mouth (oh its nice to do no intensive prep work!)

Anyway after using the first 50 cases I noticed 2 of them had splits on the necks. Now Im confident there is nothing wrong with my chamber and I actually think they look more like fold marks from the brass forming process rather than jagged splits. Possibly they dont even go all the way through and are just a cosmetic problem on the outside of the cases.

So I inspected the second 50 cases that havent been fired yet and found another 2 cases that have these similar marks on the necks.

Here is a picture of the cases- top 2 are unfired.

Quite possibly there is the chance that these 4 cases may have split if I had of fireformed them to dasher and the rest been fine. I guess even though we get to shoot nice lapua brass (which is expensive too) that we arent guaranteed that each piece will be flawless.

Cheers
