That's a pity Alan, we would have had a larger Gippsland contingent with you there.
You could always leave the man-van at home and throw your down swag in my camper annex!

And, while he's not in your annex Norm, he could score for us in the teams event and provide expert advice. :D

Thanks Norm. But I'd prefer to keep working on the van in the hope its ready for NSW!

Geoff, would it be of use if I set up a "mission control" base here in Vic?

Bad news you can't make it Alan. It is shaping up to be a really great event.
Hey Norm can I park my Troopy next to your camper so that you can wake me up when the alarm goes off...

AlanF wrote:Time for me to admit defeat. I won't make it to Brisbane  . The decision was made at about 2am this morning, at the end of another late night working on my shooting van project. The thing is, if I manage to get the van properly ready for the trip, I won't have time to do some decent load development, and why would you drive 2000km and back to shoot against the best with dodgy loads. And the clincher was that powered sites at the range have been booked out since last year! Obviously if I'd been in the (soon to be victorious) Victorian team, then there would have been no piking.

When the "van cave" is somewhere near to its completion, I'll post photos, and explain the concept 8) .

Am really sorry to be missing possibly the biggest Australian F-Class Queens ever. I hope the weather is good and its a great event.

maybe your dodgy loads will work well in my dodgy barrel? :-)

I nearly got caught in the same sort of project trap trying to get my loading room finished before the trip. I admitted defeat just in time to make it but am feeling pretty underdone and would have liked a couple more weeks to do something different. hopefully the barrel gamble isn't too bad and I can settle back in during the leadup.

ahhhhh the things we could achieve with unlimited time!

You can't beat brotherly love. Is Norm going to draw with Steve? Ecomeat has gone quiet. Is he travelling with a big stick to do the lot? Expect eco... to bounce back .  Maybe the young bulls will do the lot before the old bulls open an eye. Look forward to hearing the banter.

  no we are battened down now into Teams Preparation Mode", ready to do battle with all comers.
We had a local OPM here in SE Qld last week, but note that nobody who competed has given away any info to the infidels from the rest of Australia.. :-$ :-$ :-$ ......team "tactics"
David, for the first time ever I am going to shoot for eight days straight, starting with the Teams, and then right through to the end of the Queens. Having never done it before, I do hope that the mental ficus can stay strong right to he end.
I have actually only managed one complete Lead Up/Queens before, and that was 2013 at Canberra. While there might have been "other factors" at play (like a rooted barrel) I can definitely report with confidence that the plan that Fairbairn and I had to try to drink Rod Davies to death didn't work . In fact it could be described as a very miserable failure. Wild Dog and I went slowly downhill, while Rod simply got better each day as our hang overs lengthened.
I ran second to him (Rod) in the Lead Up, with Spencer third......so was pretty happy with myself at that point. At the end of the Queens itself.....which Chop Reid smoked the field in, and Bartman007 a close second......I ended up in a ding dong battle with Craig McGowan for about 21st place
Fairbairn and I drove home to Qld together, so we had about 1200 Klm to make up plausible excuses !
Now I am older and wiser, [-X and driving in and out everyday from home will mean no late nights with Messrs Paroz, Davies, Ferrara, Nugent, Rigby and Henry , so hopefully two good Bartleins will get me through to that final 1000 yards range without any major hiccups :D

Hey Josh
I think it is the SA crowd that need a prop such as "red undies"?
Don't ever get into a conversation with Marty over underwear!!!
I am not sure he knows male versions exist?
Maybe a pilot thing? Best left to those qualified to discuss and please keep to themselves!!

There is a substantiated rumour that you are dipping the toe in cross dressing disciplines?!
Thanks!,

Plus I heard one other from the Dalby area may also be accepting the bipod challenge???,!!
C u Sunday week!
Shane

Yes Shane, I'll be hanging out with the FTR shooters for a couple of days, I've borrowed my seven year old sons school dictionary, so I'll be trying to use lots of small words, to avoid confusion... :D

Looks like the weather forecast for next Monday and Tuesday is looking GREAT :-)

25 degrees with 15-25 KmHr winds on Monday
24 degrees with 20-30 KmHr winds on Tuesday

I can't wait to get up there out of this cold Victorian Winter!

Might have to pack the Mankini for some beach sun soaking and to work on my tan :P

Counting down the days, along with the number of cases left to load.........

The Tasmanians and Victorians need bonus points because they're developing tunes in 5 degrees for a 20+degree competition.
