Yes Dave I did notice Peters pimping I was impressed I didn't get a chance to look through Marty's scope but the rumour has it was somewhat different naked women or something like that .
Yes we did have a great coach and the SA Team thank Phil for filling the position at short notice.
The NQRA did a great job organising the event and the wind conditions were very interesting I wish I could have shot the lead up and Queens unfortunately work commitments got in the way.
I realised a month ago that we had a good team with a balance of proven performers and 2 rookies who performed above and beyond expectations

Watching the lead up and queen’s results coming in daily (thanks Alan) I was a little concerned that the NQRA team were going to be very strong.

But teams matches are a whole different ball game and the NQRA team gave a very good account of them selves as it was their first team’s event that they had participated in.

NSWRA Team had a great start and have improved allot since Canberra well done to that team.

VRA Team always play hard ball and have a very sold team Noel their normal coach could not attend and with out him still did a great job
QRA Team had some loose screw issues Cam don't get to beat up about it as the end result wouldn’t have changed I bet they will be araldite in next time
Got to sit next to John Tracey on the plane on the way back to Bizvagas and got all the gossip on the Queensland team.
Had a great time all be it to short and look forward to seeing you all in Tassie.

i can now reveal the main secret of the sa open team's success.
up until now we have had no control over primer consistency, but raven has established a simple way to test for this.
throw 100 primers in a bowl of water. the ones that sink are obviously heavier than the ones that float.
reject all the floaters, and primer consistency increases dramatically.
this snippet has been released because we now have other technology to maintain the edge.

We had a great week of shooting though!

Great venue, great weather, great competition!

Looking forward to the next time we all meet. I'm sure we all have a few changes we'll make for Tasmania.

As for the Tasmania range, a quick note to the boys and girls down under under. Please work on the weather, as Mackay certainly set the bench mark very high. Cool light breezes, with the sun shining each day.

I would like to sincerely thank all of you who made a massive effort to get to Mackay for this event. It was truly a remarkable gathering. The talent was outstanding as was the weather and the comraderie. The challenges of getting teams and gear around this great country are enormous but it was well worthwhile for those that put in the effort. This has certainly earmarked Tassie to be the "must attend" event of the next few years and we will be there with bells on to repay the debt !!

and sledging by eastern states teams has lifted the bar of the artform for the next event.

Just having a look over this post and I never got round to doing a wrap-up after the Teams.

Congratulations to South Australia, and particularly to Captain Richard Braund. This was a clear case of reward for effort. The level of discipline and attention to detail was quite apparent, and what a coup to get the services of Phil Bradshaw as coach. The performance of the coach is critical in team shooting, even more so than in TR, and Phil deserves all the credit he's been given. Its a pity he's unavailable for Raton (yes I asked him. ).

The whole six days certainly provided a feast of shooting. Its the longest shoot I've attended, and with every day around 26 to 28 and somewhat humid, I wasn't as sprightly getting out of bed by the end of it. Given my recent performances, I'm sorry not to have been more competitive, but it became apparent very early on that some equipment decisions had been wrong, and throughout the whole 6 days I was losing 1 to 2 points to elevation every range. In a field that big (and that good), you can hardly afford to lose ANY shots to elevation.

Highlights of the meeting for me were (not in any particular order) :

Mt Vince is a beautiful range, and was very well presented.
37 F-Open shooters in the Queens!!!
Closeness of the finishes in Leadup and Queens.
SA's convincing wins in both Teams events.

Bring on Tassie!

PS: Just on the quiet, Marty was using AR2209, 1 in 9.5(!) Krieger, and 180 SMKs!

And don't forget in the equipment list Alan - Marty's top secret "oh sh_t" reticle sported by most of the NQ team. The big "Think D____head" in bold across the top obviously kept him focused for every shot!!

I do lament not shooting the lead-up and Queens Series work got in the way.

alan,
you make two very good points.
firstly competitive shooting is a tiring exercise. probably more mentally than physically, but a big shoot can wear you out. the old days of partying at night are gone for serious competitors. fclass is no longer a beer and chips sport. and maybe we are all getting older.
secondly, you just can't afford to lose points to vert nowadays.
the gun and ammo must be absolutely on song, and there must be a barrel of sufficient standard to support this. then you have to read the wind.
the point you didn't make is regarding the high sledging requirement in both quantity and quality for a serious win.
