At the 2013 Raton US Nationals presentations, I was at the front taking photos of Marty and other Aussies collecting numerous medals when I heard someone in Shiraz's camp tell the US Team
(they always claim the front benches) "don't clap, the Aussies don't need any more encouragement."

Seven in the top 33. Was there a comment this year?

John, yes, things are very different for me this time around. I used a different gun each day and each is going very well.
Most others are fine tuning loads and getting used to pairs firing.
Marty has had his head full with team stuff but will be fully on fire come game time.
Today is national teams day and we have just shot 700m with 800m in an hour.
The Nationals presentation is all done together tonight.

Yes, Australia won the international teams event ahead of Great Britain. It was a great effort by coaches Michael Waites and Greg Warrian who each coached the F/TR and F Open shooters side by side.
Tonight was the meet and greet session for the F Class World Championships.
Everyone was dressed in their number ones over canapés and light refreshments. It was good to catch up with shooters from all around the world and put faces to names of people you have been chatting to on forums and to chat to people you have seen online on podiums in major international competitions. The top class shooters from around the world were mainly a good bunch with similar interests, concerns and troubles as the rest of us. When we are at the range, we are pretty busy or have things to concentrate on and some may have their game face on, so it was good to catch up in an informal environment.
It is now 10.30 at night and the Individual F Class World Championships starts in the morning with an opening ceremony at 7.30am, flag raising, national anthems and range officers instructions.
The first day of competition is 15 shots at 700, 800 and 900 meters and rain/storms are forecast.

Go and get them boys. Show them the Aussies can do it twice in a row. Good shooting and may the wind gods and bit of luck go your way. Hope to get some results when I get to Narromine Tuesday P.M.

Rain has halted play today
Everyone shot the 700m with 75s everywhere
Only half shot the 800 before the downpour.
Sharpie needed a hug after a drenching but Wilmont couldn't catch him.
Not sure if they will try to do 3 ranges tomorrow.

That's a real shame - it appears there may be no reserve days.

Anyway, here are the Australian placings for day 1 as best I can determine :

Two bronze medals for Peter Carter , and most of our shooters well in contention in both FO and FTR. Let's hope the weather improves tomorrow.

Due to the rain cancellations today, the format for tomorrow will be 800M, 900M, 900M.
It will be a tough day with some windy conditions. Those who dropped one point and slipped back past 100th place today might be able to leap up a few dozen places by the end of shooting tomorrow.

Sensible decision to drop the 700. 800 and 900 in windy conditions will be a challenge befitting a world championship. Go get 'em Rod.
