Wow! An F/TR shooter beat all the Open shooters for the daily agg. Very well done to our two Rods. Rod Davies was only one point behind Larry B, and Rod Shehan shooting F/TR was only two points further back . Hang on in there everyone - anything can happen at 1000 yards.

One more day to go. It will be sad to leave this place. The people are so friendly, and supportive, the atmosphere has been great.

The team is spending the afternoon reloading and packing for the trip home.

Yes it has been a great trip so far. Today was the team event of the U.S Nationals and things started very well with us up there near the lead. Some technical problems (mine mostly) dropped us back a bit in the middle, then some tricky winds played havoc with us later on in the teams shoot. The wind coaches (Rod S and Jenni) have been doing a great job with what they had to work with. Once again Bob Kinnear started off the shoot with another good hit, 199/200 @1000 yds. Unfortunatlty, technical issues kept us back in the points in the end. This afternoon, we had to get rid of excess ammo before the flight home so we drove up t the 1200yd Buffalo shoot. After a few hits at 1200 yds, Mark and I took aim at a rock about a mile away. After 1st shot hits, we moved to "a hole in the wall" in the cliff face about 2500yds+ away and began to have the most fun of the trip. Even some 308s were able to get good accuracy at 2000+yds while some 308 projectile just wouldnt get there. It is surprising the accuraccy that 180gn 284s get at 2000+ yds. Next year we will be having some pre match "hole in the wall" get together shoots to foul barrels before the main event.
Tomorrow is the last day of the individuals in the U.S Nationals. The program is 2 x 20 shot targets. We have some catching up to do, so wish us luck.

Well I guess the team is all on its way back, and most likely completely buggered. They've typically been shooting 3 x 15 shot matches per day, plus marking, plus reloading at night over a period of about 14 days ! I start to lose my edge at the end of a leadup and Queens here, and thats only 5 days with no marking. The final results of the US Nationals are now HERE. There's been some remarkable performances in the Nationals - Daryl Barlow finished 8th in field of 90 F/TR shooters, and Rod Davies finished 32nd in a field of 96 in F-Open, and the Australian "Drop Bears" 4 man team finished 9th of 24 teams. Regardless of the scores, I take my hat off to them, particularly the Captains, Manager, and Coaches for paving the way for the Australian FCWC Team next year. There will be a huge amount learnt from this trip, and not just about handling the conditions, but all the other things you need to run smoothly for a successful campaign.

The next twelve months will go very quickly, but I'm sure we'll see some more PB's before the guys leave again.

Yes, we have all packed up and are now in Colorado Springs. We have been scouting out gunshops here and have found a place which will be able to supply all the gear we will need including powders, primers, projectiles, reloading gear etc.
You are right about being completely buggered, we were totaly worn out by the time of the Nationals. Like you said we have learned a huge amount from this trip and will be doing a lot of things differently next time. The Captain, manager and wind coaches did a great job with no major hiccups but many learning opportunities for all.
The last day was all 20 shot matches which was a new experience for most. While conditions were not too bad, some guns did not like the long shot strings. We fly back to Australia tomorrow after some more scouting out around Colorado Springs.
The trip has been great for all, with a lot of entertainment away from the range. We are all keen to come back bigger and much better next time.

The NRAA team has returned home. We are all very, very, very tired, but on a high from the amazing experience.

I am currently sitting in Brisbane airport, waiting for my flight to Adelaide. I will see some of you down there.

First post here and I woudl ike to use it to congratulate my good friend and mentor Daryl barlow on 3rd place in the Stars and Stripes individuals grand agg.

Thanks also to the entire team, it was a memorable experience.....
