Unsurprisingly, the NineMSN website is currently running a poll asking if gun laws should be tightened here in Australia, as an add on to their coverage of the Virginia Tech shootings in the US. Currently the poll indicated over whelming support for further restrictions at the rate of approx. 2 to 1. Voting is restricted to one vote per IP address, so please ask all you know, who would disagree with further restrictions, to vote lest a negative poll such as this be used against law abiding firearms owners.

The question when I looked was "have Australia's gun laws made the nation safer?" and the answers were running at about 3:1 for "No".

Therefore the conclusion is that tightening the gun laws hasn't helped!
