Does anyone have any idea of the stock maker wrapped around this old m80 Angel. One of the new guys at the club has just bought it and was inquiring about it.

Looks like one made by Tom Canty.

dont think its a lionel,its different to all the others ive seen.

Thanks guys, I don't think it's a LWB as it doesn't have one of his discs on it and the trigger guard is different to the norm. I thought it may hv been an early Phil Mastin stock, but again it doesn't have his disc either. I hadn't thought of Tom Canti though.

On second thoughts it looks more like one made by the late Geoff Slee from Werribee ( Vic ) There was a slight difference around the grip between his and those made by Tom Canty.

Tom's older stocks had the words "Top Cat" printed on the front take down screw washer. Does not resemble one of Jeff''s that I have but he used to cut off many patterns. Its a possibility. But it is a striking resemblance to a Week's Stock I had, looking at the wood, butt shape and grip.

The stock looks like a pattern made by the late Bill Barrett from WaggaWagga.
Although the butt end and adjustable cheek assembly looks slightly different?

I agree that the stock looks like a Bill Barratt stock on the forend and that was my initial guess as to maker. However Bill Barratt didn't put adjustable cheek pieces on any of the stocks he made. Either someone has added the adjustable cheek piece later or it may have been made by Bill Heald who did a very close copy of the Bill Barratt stocks.

I got to have a good look at the rifle and stock yesterday arvo. It definitely was someones pride and joy at one point in it's life. The adjustable cheek peice looks to be original and it doesn't have any marks or names on it anywhere. The only thing that may help is the action screw washers are more like a collet where they locate in the pillar and the trigger blade looked home made. The guy at the shop where the rifle was purchased passed on that the rifle was part of a deceased estate from a brisbane shooter.
