Not sure where to put this.

I have always thought we should push the fact that rifle ranges are quite eco friendly places and a haven to wildlife.

I have attached a pic taken today.

Some shooting was in progress a few lanes away and our visitor stayed put for some shots. There are a pair and they nest every year on the range and come in for tid-bits most Sundays - especially when feeding young.

Years ago we had a white headed Sea Eagle nesting near our 300y mound. They successfully raised chicks. A very impressive rusty red bird with white head. As we know - but the general population does not believe, shooting never worries them.

Feel free to send to anyone or use it as you see fit.

I have also thought we should build up a collection of suitable pictures of other wildlife co-existing or even sheltering on our ranges.

There are yellow breasted robins flitting about the silverdale range whilst we are shooting.

Werribee used to be a large protected space for sea birds. Apparently it was home to a few endangered species

Fantastic picture Peter, one for those who think guns are all about killing wildlife. As far as the bird is concerned that barrel is the perfect perch.

Might be better than O rings!

Look at the VRA range were kangaroo's hop back and forth feed across the range while shooting is in progress.

We often have a mob of Emus walk across the range as we shoot some times seeing them in the scope behind the targets there is a photo of them feeding just in front of the firing mound as someone was shooting.

The Salisbury Range impact area (artillery) was, at one stage, home to the only breeding pair of Peregrine Falcons in England. It was a very closely guarded secret because falling artillery shells would not have stopped thieves stealing the eggs. It was the job of the sniper school of the Combined Arms Training Center to provide 24/7 365 observation on that nest for years. Not a lot of people know that. A pair of Falcons finally returned to Salisbury Cathedral in 2014 after an absence since the mid 50s
