Well I finally got my sample pack from Ken at Aussies Own Copperhead Projectiles .

My first impression is , they look like they will shoot !! Very clean and precise, not much unlike a Berger !! Very clean , similar shape to a hybrid but a little shorter! Should be close in bc to a Berger and maybe a few more FPS being lighter .

In dia the 178’s were very consistent around the .2840 with my Vern’s not accurate enough but .0001thou between them .

Weight wise , extremely consistent with only .08 of a grain out of 25 difference. This whips Hornady eld 180’s as I had up to .2 gr difference.

Base to metplate , the bulk of the sample was with in 2 thou .
Easily stable in a 9 twist barrel .
Hope others can share their their experiences and we can get behind a local product that looks like it can compete with the Bergers . I’ll throw a load together and shoot 700 yd fly this Sunday.

They need a short throat, ideal, 8 Twist but you will find that out.

Geoff,

The 178gr bullet Graham has in his photo is not the 178gr VLD bullet you are thinking of which did require a short throat... This bullet is made on a new set of dies... With a 189fb it will seat 3/4 of the way down a 284 neck comfortably and touch the lands..
Cheers

Sorry Geoff , these are the 178’s not the new 184 ‘s . Yes 9 twist maybe a stretch with the 184’s. But u never know until trying it . The 178’s are 1.478 “ Miller stab of 1.63 at 2830 FPS . Over 1 is stable but again depending on dynamic stability.

Again sorry for the confusion.

Well tomorrow I’ll have a crack with the Aussie 7 mm pills 700 yds gives about 10.5 moa . 280 AI , 59.3 gr of 2213 sc , Cci 200’s weighed , just jammed . Should be 2945 FPS .Each pill has been sorted base to metplate and loaded as per well for me Queens Quality Ammo!

No testing has been done at 100 m ( too lazy !! ) the above load has worked well with Bergers ! Look there are so many variables here ! Like I haven’t spent zip time on a load ! Just thrown together something I think should work !!
So 700 yds local fly shoot here we come !!

Yep give em a go ! They work ! Shot blind 10 shot group 123 mm and won my first fly shoot !! We don’t have the official fly targets so we shot on the 50 m pistol slow fire target and also with a terrible SD of 14 !! Results below ! Was also fair of mirage and a little fishtail wind ! And finally beat the creedmores cals that have been whipping my hinie at prs !! #-o
